The General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen was founded in New York in 1785 by 22 of the city’s skilled craftsmen. The album also topped Rolling Stone‘s list of the “50 Best Albums of 2013.” In 2019 Vampire Weekend released their fourth studio album Father of the Bride.

After graduating, the band began recording its self-titled debut.

Vampire Weekend formed in New York City in 2006 when bandmates Ezra Koenig, Rostam Batmanglij, Chris Tomson, and Chris Baio met while attending Columbia University and realized their shared interest in punk rock and African music.
